Summer is Here. Living in Scottsdale, we dress accordingly. Tank tops, flip flops, shorts, we carry frozen water bottles, and wear extra sunscreen. Each day we remind our kids, drink, wear your hat, sunglasses, sunscreen... but don't forget the furry members of your family. They too, can get cranky from the heat, and feel tired , run down without proper hydration and safety from the effects of the summer sun.
Print and post the checklist found below for Summer Safety with Your Pets. Remember that they too are a valued member of your family, but you will have to make the stay cool choices for them. They can't choose that tank top, put on their flip flops or grab the gatorade from the refridgerator shelf.
Here are some quick tips from the Summer Safety list posted below. If one is good- two is better. Add a second water bowl in your home to encourage more water consumption during the hot weather. Forget the Summer Cut- Most people don't realize your dog will stay cooler with his natural coat. Don't leave the AC running with your dog in the car, Air conditioning systems can fail, and the heat will increase in seconds. When in doubt, consider the heat caution you use with your children, your pet is no different. Scottsdale Summer Fashion- It's not just for fun, sunglasses - and sunscreen can protect your pet. Finally, Get Wet- Water is a cooling, relaxing experience for all. Fill up the plastic waiting pool, and give your pet a fun, easy way to get wet and cool off. Take your pet swimming- see below safety sheet for details on staying safe in the water. Most of all- find your fun, enjoy the lazy days of summer and stay safe.
